Where Narrative Depth Meets Cinematic Design
With the release of the thriller Die Abschaffung des Todes, the Impossible Ad showcases the concept of immortality. The idea behind it: uploading one's consciousness into a computer (brain) before death. The 3D visual captures this vision through abstract forms and a futuristic aesthetic, translating complex themes into a single, striking moment.

Die Abschaffung des Todes (Abolition of Death)
In front of Cologne Cathedral stands a monumental 3D rendering of Andreas Eschbach’s novel Die Abschaffung des Todes (Abolition of Death). The oversized book is connected by neural cables to a massive sci-fi brain—symbolizing a higher intelligence, supercomputer, advanced AI. This visual metaphor illustrates the novel’s central theme: Could it one day be possible to upload human consciousness and achieve eternal life?
Driven by the novel’s central theme, I captured live-action footage at Cologne Cathedral and tracked the scene in After Effects. In phase two, I built the entire environment in 3D. Cables, connectors, and the book were all custom-made assets, which I combined and animated together with the brain model in a cohesive composition. After several days of work and long nights of rendering, the final result is revealed: the Impossible Ad.
